On the day after Christmas, we left Liberty Lake for Winter Road Trip! On the first day we encountered some snowny roads as we traveled through the Blue Mountains. We eventually made it to Boise where we spent the evening with Steve, Toni, and their new baby Jaxon. The next morning we hung out and played with Jaxon before hitting the road for Utah. That night we explored Park City. The old ski town has a historic main street with trendy shops and restaurants. We had Thai food, and decided it was much too cold to be strolling, although we did stop traffic as we posed for a photo.
The next day we hit Snowbird. We loved taking the tunnel to the backside. It was cool to be skiing at over 9,000 feet! After a full day of skiing we got cleaned up and tried to catch dinner at a local hot spot The Red Iguana. The place was hopping and we refused to wait over an hour to eat, so we went to Trolley Square for dinner and viewed the ski movie Steep.
Alta was our next ski destination. Alta is for skiers only, and is just a few miles further up Little Cottonwood Canyon past Snowbird. We met up with Jessamyn's friend from Montana, Allison and her friends. Alta was amazing! Fresh snow everywhere and great locals to show us the mountain. What a day. We stayed in and ordered pizza for dinner as we recovered from a hard day of skiing. :)
We had plans to ski another day, but a wicked storm came into town that brought whiteout conditions. Utah is amazing, but we could have done without the high winds, low temps, and whiteouts. Let's come back in the springtime!
Jessamyn pulled a Tichy as she pushed us all the way back to Lake Stevens. We left Salt Lake City at 10:00 and made it back Lake Stevens at midnight. I will forever refer to this drive as Salt Lake Stevens. It is always nice to come home, but I can't wait to ski Utah again!
We stayed home for New Year's Eve as we recovered from our road trip. 2007 was an amazing year with Scott and Jessamyn! I had so many amazing adventures with my new friends, and I can't wait to see what adventures the future holds for them.
